Do You Have HIV/AIDS-Related Fatigue

Do You Have HIV/AIDS-Related Fatigue?

HIV/AIDS-related fatigue can affect you physically or psychologically. Your muscles may lose strength or ache. Normal physical activities, like walking or carrying things, may be difficult. You may have trouble concentrating or feel increasing depression.

The following questions will help you assess if you might be suffering from HIV/AIDS-related fatigue.

During the past two weeks, have you frequently experienced:

  • An increased need to rest after a normal activity level?
  • Muscle weakness or limb heaviness?
  • Diminished concentration or attention?
  • Decreased interest in your usual activities, social- or work-related?
  • Insomnia or unrefreshing sleep?
  • Difficulty completing daily tasks because of feeling fatigued?
  • Problems with short-term memory?

If you answered yes to two or more questions, you may want to discuss fatigue with your doctor or health care provider.

Keeping a fatigue journal can also help you understand your symptoms and will be helpful when you discuss fatigue with your doctor.
